LIN/USB Data Converter
Model 9011

The LIN/USB Data Converter allows a personal computer to act as a diagnostic analyzer during development and testing of an automotive ECU (electronic control unit) that supports the LIN communications protocol.

The LIN/USB Data Converter connects to a personal computer over a USB connection. It contains a built-in microcontroller that handles the LIN protocol. The LIN baud rate is programmable from 1000 to 21,000 bps. The LIN/USB Data Converter transfers data to and from the PC at the selected LIN baud rate.

The LIN/USB Data Converter, under control of the PC, can serve as the LIN bus master. Automotive Data Converters' Model 9011 can also be programmed to act as a LIN bus slave. The Data Converter accepts programming from the PC using the CLD format defined by the LIN specifications.

The LIN/USB Data Converter comes with a PC program that allows you to send and receive LIN messages to and from a compatible LIN slave ECU. While not a complete LIN protocol stack, this PC software greatly eases the task of developing and testing a LIN slave ECU.

  • Compatible with LIN protocol versions 1.3, 2.0, and 2.1

  • For 12V systems

  • 32-bit ARM Cortex M3 microcontroller handles USB and LIN protocol details

  • Supports LIN data rate from 1,000 to 21,000 bps

  • Can act as LIN master, slave, or bus monitor

  • Versatile trigger output for visualizing bus traffic on scope or logic analyzer keyed to specific LIN event

  • Can utilize standard CLD (LDF) configuration files

  • Includes USB cable to connect to PC USB port

  • LIN Message Center Software runs on connected PC

  • Visual Basic 6.0 and VB .NET 2005 source code provides a head start to creating custom PC software to communicate with ECU
